Rubblebucket Orchestra
We only get about two Afrobeat shows per year in Ithaca, so I was disappointed to miss Rubblebucket Orchestra when they played Castaways in June due to being out of town. Fortunately, they played there again last night, and I caught the show this time. Here's some footage from their June show, with a slightly different lineup than the current one:
I think that's the same trombonist I saw playing for the Superpowers in Boston last year; how many dreadlocked white Afrobeat trombonists can there be in the Northeast United States? Rubblebucket is the most rock-oriented Afrobeat band I've seen so far; it's always fun to rock out in the midst of some worldbeat. If they keep playing Ithaca, I'll keep going.
